On Friday, Hamilton police officers seized $1.5 million worth of cannabis from a so-called drug processing plant.
Five staff members at Cannabis Canada Dispensary were arrested after police on Friday executed a search warrant, The Hamilton Spectator reported.
A second search warrant also uncovered a big amount of marijuana, THC products, and oils. In addition, machines used for making marijuana products were found.
The police said the five arrested included three women between the ages of 22 and 41 years of age and a 46-year-old man from Hamilton along with a 30-year-old man from Niagara Falls.
Each of the five people arrested is facing charges for the possession of more than 3 kilograms of marijuana for the purposes of trafficking, possession of cannabis resin for trafficking, possession of THC for trafficking, and proceeds of crime over $5,000.
However, it is not clear how much was the total amount of marijuana seized by the police. The Spectator said that the marijuana seized was “the largest from any dispensary raid.”
They have been released based on a promise to return to court. The daily said that investigation is ongoing.
