Canadian scientists have created the first beer brewed from cannabis.
Unlike the cannabis-infused beers that already exist on the market, this one is brewed directly from cannabis and not barley with added cannabis oil.
Dooma Wendschuh, of Province Brands, who is originally from Florida is proud to announce that beer is brewed from the stocks, stems, and roots of the cannabis plant.
The beer has been created by Canadian chemists, who work for the startup Province Brands.
Wendschuh highlighted that it took some time before the chemists got the recipe correct.
“The things that we would come up with just tasted horrible. They tasted like rotten broccoli.”
He explained that the recipe contains an average of 6.5mg of THC per beer.
“The flavor is dry, savory, less sweet than a typical beer flavor. The beer hits you very quickly, which is not common for a marijuana edible.”
More products expected
The beer will be the first of many products to be released; it is expected that an assortment of different edibles and cocktails will be created.
“I don’t think there was anywhere else in the world where we could do this business,”Wendschuh talking about Canada. “Canada is already leading the world in creating an industry around medical cannabis and we expect them to continue to lead the world in trading and industry around adult-use cannabis.”
