Jack in the box is hoping legal marijuana gives consumers the munchies. They are launching a meal targeted at cannabis consumers.
As legalization moves forward globally, cannabis consumers provide a brand new challenge for marketers and advertisers. Jack in the box is tackling that challenge by partnering with a digital media company backed by Snoop Dogg. They are creating a new “munchie” meal aimed at cannabis enthusiasts and consumers.
Jack in the Box has a history of engaging cannabis culture that spans over a decade, and notably includes the irreverent Two Tacos for 99 cents commercial as well as the introduction of the Munchie Meal product line and its subsequent marketing campaigns. Now, this is the first time the chain will openly embrace the drug.
The “Merry Munchie Meal,” which will be available at three California locations for a week in January. It will cost $4.20 and features two tacos, french fries, onion rings, five mini churros, three chicken strips and a small drink. The price, $4.20 is a code within the cannabis community, as it smartly applies to the nationwide pot-smoking holiday and ideal smoking time. Iwona Alter, the chain’s chief marketing officer says, Jack’s munchie meals have been successful because of their authenticity, and how they speak to our customers. She says this partnership will be another way to connect wit with their audience. She goes on to say,
“whether you’re at a concert, up late playing video games, or pulling an all-nighter. We are about welcoming all of our guests, no matter what they’re craving or why they’re craving it.”
