The National Cannabis Industry Association (NCIA) is an American non-profit organization based in the District of Columbia, with an additional office in Denver, Colorado. Founded in late 2010, National Cannabis Industry Association is now the largest cannabis trade association in the U.S. and the only organization representing state-sanctioned cannabis-related businesses at the federal level. The founders of the National Cannabis Industry Association are Aaron Smith and Steve Fox and their main focus is the legalization of cannabis in the United States and the commercialization of cannabis sales in total.

With their primary goal being the promotion of the growth of a responsible and legitimate cannabis industry, the National Cannabis Industry Association also stands for a favorable social, economic and legal environment for that industry in the United States. Namely, this non-governmental organization is categorized as the first national trade group for the cannabis industry” in the United States.
The National Cannabis Industry Association now represents approx. 2,000 member-businesses and tens-of-thousands of cannabis professionals. This makes the NCIA a leader in the movement of protecting the legal cannabis businesses as well as defending the state laws by which cannabis is legalized. They also stand for advancing the federal policy reforms regarding the plant. Successful businesses are joining NCIA every day to become stronger, smarter, and more prosperous by working together to defend and expand the responsible cannabis industry.

Simply by working together with this main cause, the industry becomes stronger and more prosperous.
THE NCIA EDUCATION
By providing valuable information through regular educational events, the National Cannabis Industry Association is able to raise the bar within the industry. This way its members, the potential business-makers and the general public are more knowledgeable regarding all the in-depth information regarding cannabis, its use, the laws, and everything else important knowing.
The way the National Cannabis Industry Association does this is by hosting educational, informative, and training events throughout the year in many different cities and states within the United States. These educational and training events are not for members only. Instead, they are open to the broad public and everyone who is interested to find out more about cannabis in general or the latest laws and regulations can join any of those. The first of these events hosted by the National Cannabis Industry Association was held in Boston in 2013 on a national level named the NorthEast Cannabusiness Symposium. This was a two-day event where more than 1,000 attendees were featured. Numerous discussions of regulations banking, product lines, insurance, energy efficiency, human resources and other issues related to the problematic state marijuana industry in is at the moment were discussed and clarified for the audience.
That first year the Cannabis Business Summit turned to be a great success and received favorable feedback, so since then it is held annually when the 2017 Cannabis Business Summit hosted more than 4700 attendees. A keynote address from former President of Mexico Vicente Fox was also featured. Speaking of community’s efforts, this organization takes the stand into engaging in legislative efforts to expand and further legitimize the legal cannabis market in the U.S. They are also acting for the lawmakers and the public understand the benefits of state-regulated cannabis as an alternative to the failures of prohibition.
Namely, the National Cannabis Industry Association has devoted their efforts to the growth of a responsible and legitimate cannabis industry and work for a favorable social, economic, and legal environment for that industry in the United States. They understand that the many hundreds of businesses involved in the cannabis industry have the potential to boost the economy overall, only if given proper chance by making the plant legal on a federative level.
The Development of The National Cannabis Industry Association
The development of the National Cannabis Industry Association throughout the years has been increasing in a parallel manner with the unstoppable growth of the cannabis industry since 2010. Namely, the group officially held its first board meeting on December 16, 2010, with just a handful of members. Then, in January 2013, NCIA had 118 member businesses. Just a year later, 2014 brought in almost 300 new member businesses in the NCIA family, bringing the number to 400 business members. In 2017, just a few years later, the statistics showed an increase to 1400 member businesses. And now, the latest information shows that in 2018 they grew to more than 1500 member businesses. This only proves the trust the National Cannabis Industry Association have built among the American society throughout the years of their existence.
Their main goal is to reach a fair-priced taxes through lobbying in the Congress and to allow cannabis businesses easier access to the banking industry. This means that people who don’t have big capitals to start with can easily access bank loans to kick-start their business.
