Toronto police have charged two Quebec men for running an illegal cannabis grow-up, The Toronto Star reported on Friday.

The York Regional Police seized 288 kilograms of harvested cannabis and more than 4,000 plants, which they estimate to sell at a street value of $6.5 million.

The facility already has three Health Canada licenses but growing more than the allowed limit is the reason behind the arrests.

Each Health Canada license permits for each license holder or a designate to grow 875 plants on their behalf for medical purposes only.
