Vermont Becomes 9th U.S. State to Legalize Marijuana

Vermont’s Rep. Gov. Phil Scott signed a cannabis bill into law on Monday, making Vermont the ninth U.S. state to legalize marijuana.

This is despite a tough federal crackdown on states operating legalized marijuana businesses. Vermont is also the first state to legalize marijuana through a legislative act and not a ballot initiative. However, the sale of marijuana continues to be prohibited in Vermont.
